Lumbini Province unfinished road projects contractors

A number of road projects in Lumbini Province remain incomplete even after being tendered more than once, according to a Bhairahawa datelined report published in Gorkhapatra on 16 October 2026.
The report cites examples from the Palpa and Gulmi side of the province, where physical progress on some contracts has stayed low while completion deadlines passed. Local residents quoted in such cases usually point to the same problems: delayed payments, weak site supervision, and contractors taking on more work than they can handle.
Incomplete roads carry real costs for the public. Dust in the dry season, mud in the monsoon, and longer travel times to schools, hospitals and markets are the daily effects in the affected settlements.
Provincial and federal road offices have in past cases responded with warning notices, contract extensions, and in some instances termination proceedings against non-performing contractors.
