What the green urea plant Nepal concept call seeks
The green urea plant Nepal concept call invites eligible companies, joint ventures, and consortia to submit concept details and modalities for developing a commercial green urea production plant in Nepal. The Government of Nepal issued the call through the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment, Singhadurbar, Kathmandu, with publication on 15 October 2026.
The proposed plant would have a production capacity of approximately 500,000 metric tons per year, with flexibility to scale up. The concept must cover the full production chain: green hydrogen production, nitrogen production, ammonia synthesis, industrial carbon capture, and urea synthesis. The ministry says the facility would anchor a new domestic value chain, linking renewable electricity to hydrogen and then to fertilizer for Nepali farmers.

The concept document is downloadable from the Ministry website moafe.gov.np. Submissions can be made manually or by email to greenurea@moafe.gov.np, and must arrive by 17:00 NST on 29 November 2026. The deadline is strict: concepts arriving after that time will not be considered.
The initiative marks a major step toward domestic fertilizer production from renewable resources, which could reduce Nepal’s dependence on imported chemical fertilizers. A successful plant could also create skilled jobs and attract green investment to Nepal’s industrial sector. The ministry expects strong interest from both domestic and international developers. Interested parties should study the downloadable concept document for the technical and submission requirements. More procurement notices are updated regularly on इभ कन्स्ट्रक्शन.
