A group of Nepali civil engineers based in Toronto has launched a mentorship network connecting diaspora professionals with engineering students and young professionals back home. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practice.
The network will pair mentors and mentees for six-month cycles, covering topics from structural design software and project management to licensing pathways for engineers working abroad. Monthly virtual sessions will feature case studies drawn from real infrastructure projects.
Organisers say they plan to expand the programme to other cities with large Nepali engineering communities. Students interested in joining the first cohort can register through the network’s website, with placements beginning next quarter.
