Betrawati Bailey Bridge Completed: Rasuwa Road Network Reconnected

Betrawati Bailey bridge completed: Minister Sunil Lamsal announced on October 10, 2026, that the installation work on the Betrawati Bailey bridge is finished, reconnecting the road network that the Bhotekoshi flood had severed from Rasuwa. The Galchhi-Betrawati temporary track is also complete, and road contact has been restored from Betrawati to the Syafrubesi side.

Betrawati Bailey bridge completed: Rasuwa reconnected

The completion marks the end of an intensive installation phase. Bailey bridge installation involves assembling steel panels on one bank, launching the truss across the gap on rollers, and then decking and finishing the running surface. Each stage is checked by engineers before the bridge is certified for traffic, so the minister’s announcement of completion is the signal that the crossing is safe to use.

Why the Betrawati crossing matters

Bailey bridges are prefabricated steel truss bridges designed for rapid deployment in emergencies. They can be launched across a damaged or missing span in a short time, making them the standard choice when floods wash out permanent bridges. For Rasuwa, which the Bhotekoshi flood had cut off from the rest of the road network, the Betrawati Bailey bridge restores the lifeline for food, fuel, construction materials and medical movement.

The district of Rasuwa, home to the Langtang region and the border crossing at Rasuwagadhi, depends heavily on a small number of mountain roads. When a flood severs one of them, villages and towns can be isolated for weeks. Reconnecting the network quickly therefore protects both daily life and the local economy, and with the Betrawati Bailey bridge completed, that vital link is open again.

Syafrubesi bridge works to gain speed

The minister also reported progress on the Syafrubesi bridge. Approach roads on both sides of the river are ready, and construction of the bridge itself will now gain speed. With the temporary track open, engineers can move plant and materials toward the Syafrubesi site more easily, keeping the momentum of the recovery works going.

What happens next

With the Betrawati Bailey bridge completed, the focus now shifts to the Syafrubesi bridge and to keeping the reconnected corridor safe. Drivers using the route should still travel with care. Bailey bridges and temporary tracks can have weight and speed restrictions, so road users should follow posted limits and any instructions from site teams. Authorities are expected to keep monitoring the flood-affected corridor and to press ahead with the Syafrubesi bridge, the next major crossing on this route.
