Electricity and Telecom Services Restored in Beni Area of Myagdi

Beni, 14 Oct 2026. Electricity and telecom services have been restored in the Beni area of Myagdi district, Gandaki Province, after flood damage on Ashoj 2 interrupted a transmission and distribution line. The outage left households and businesses cut off until crews found a workaround.

The main line was damaged at four tower locations, cutting power to affected communities. Service resumed using an alternative 33 kV line, bringing relief to residents and businesses on the Bhurung Tatopani side.

Beni Myagdi Electricity Restoration

NEA Beni distribution centre chief Hemraj Chapagain confirmed the restoration. The alternative 33 kV line was activated to bypass the damaged towers, ensuring continuity of supply while permanent repairs are planned for the Beni Myagdi electricity network.

Areas affected included Annapurna Rural Municipality wards 2, 3, 4 and 6 on the Bhurung Tatopani side. These wards faced disruptions to both electricity and telecom services until the alternative line restored connectivity.

The swift restoration highlights the importance of backup infrastructure. The NEA continues to assess the four damaged tower locations for permanent repairs to the main transmission line. Engineers must still reach the damaged sites and rebuild the towers, work that will take careful planning in difficult terrain.

Local residents welcomed the restoration, which supports daily life, business operations, and communication services in the Beni area of Myagdi district. For families and shops, the return of steady power ends days of disruption and uncertainty. The restoration also lets communication networks serve the area without interruption.
