The Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN) has asked all its members to test the Public Procurement Monitoring Office’s new PPMO beta e-GP website and submit their opinions and suggestions, in the first public sign that work is under way to bring back Nepal’s electronic government procurement system.
In a letter carrying reference number 293/083/84 and dated 29 Ashwin 2083 BS, FCAN general secretary Shivahari Ghimire informed members through the provincial and district contractors’ associations that PPMO has recently put a beta version of its bidding website into operation. FCAN says the direct experience and suggestions of contractors are important to make the new system effective, easy to use and practical.

What the letter asks contractors to do
According to the letter, members should log in to the beta portal at https://dev.bolpatra.gov.np/ using the test credentials supplied in the notice, and try out the processes available on the site. FCAN lists the areas to examine as published notices, the user interface, login and registration, bid submission and the other facilities on offer. Members are asked to report problems, difficulties and anything that needs improvement in clear terms. FCAN says it will collect the feedback and place it before the concerned authority so that necessary improvements can be made, adding that this effort should help the new bidding website come into operation in an easy, dependable and effective form as soon as possible.
Background: e-GP system suspended since September
The appeal comes against a difficult backdrop. PPMO suspended Nepal’s e-GP system on 16 September 2026, citing a risk of security breaches and tampering, and the main portal at bolpatra.gov.np has displayed only a maintenance notice ever since. With no online bidding channel available, contractors have been watching for any indication of when the system might return. The beta test now under way is aimed at preparing the new website for operation, and FCAN’s direct involvement in gathering contractor feedback suggests the office is actively preparing for a relaunch.
For many firms, the suspension has meant a return to slower, paper-based routines at a time when public infrastructure spending is under close watch. Industry groups have repeatedly asked the authorities to restore a secure online channel, and the testing of the PPMO beta e-GP website is the first concrete response to those calls.
Why the PPMO beta e-GP website matters
The PPMO beta e-GP website matters because electronic bidding has become the main route through which Nepali contractors compete for public works, and its suspension has left firms and public agencies with a gap in how tenders are published and bids are filed. A beta round that draws on the practical experience of working contractors could catch usability and process problems before the system goes live, which FCAN says is the point of having members test the PPMO beta e-GP website now rather than after launch. For the wider construction sector, the exercise is also the clearest signal yet that a restored e-GP system is being prepared.
What happens next
FCAN has said it will compile the opinions, suggestions and feedback received from members and present them to PPMO for the improvements needed on the new website. Contractors who want to take part can visit the beta portal and send their comments through their provincial or district contractors’ association so that the federation can forward a consolidated response. No date has been announced for the full launch of the new bidding website, but FCAN says the feedback round is intended to help bring it into operation as soon as possible.
