Koshi Province has granted funding consent to 69 multi-year road and bridge plans under the Koshi Province multi year plans funding consent roads bridges program, clearing the way for a fresh round of provincial road and bridge construction, Gorkhapatra reports from Biratnagar.

The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development had proposed 91 multi-year plans in Asar. Plans with low readiness and plans that duplicated others in the same constituency were dropped, leaving 62 with consent. Twenty nine plans advanced by the previous government were then rejected and seven new plans added, bringing the total number of plans holding resource consent to 69. Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Jeevan Acharya had pressed for at least one multi-year plan in every provincial constituency, and the consent was granted by a minister level decision on 28 Ashoj under clause 4(1) of the Multi-year Project Resource Consent Standards 2080. The decision is the largest single Koshi Province multi year plans funding consent roads bridges approval this year.

Among the named allocations are Rs 20 crore for the Kisan Chowk to Tandi to Aaitabare to Rabi road in Morang, Rs 20 crore for the Prapcha to Srichaur to Khijifalate road in Okhaldhunga, Rs 18 crore for the Femekhola concrete bridge in Panchthar, Rs 15 crore each for the Gauradah to Tipuchok to Khareldanda to Bargachhi to Gauriganj road in Jhapa and the Likhu to Khijifalate road in Okhaldhunga, Rs 14 crore 11 lakh for the bridge over the west Mariya River in Sunsari, Rs 14 crore for the Ilam Bazar to Sandakpur tourism road, Rs 13 crore 75 lakh for the Triyuga River bridge in Udayapur, and Rs 13 crore 33 lakh for the Ratuvakhola concrete bridge in Ilam.

Newly added plans include the third package of the Ilam Bazar to Sandakpur tourism road, the Tintale to Dingla road section in Bhojpur, the Ramrekhola concrete bridge at Urlabari-5 in Morang, the Ratuvakhola concrete bridge at Maisebung-6 in Ilam, the Triyuga River concrete bridge in Udayapur, the Gidde Dobhan to Sangkhukhola road bridge at Sakela in Khotang, and an information technology and library building at Mahendra Morang Campus.

Under the Koshi Province multi year plans funding consent roads bridges package, the consent comes with conditions. Procurement for each plan must begin within six months, or the consent lapses automatically. The ministry must also reduce its total multi-year liability by at least 33 percent by the end of the current fiscal year, and once contracts are signed the details of each plan must be entered on the multi-year plan portal every quarter.
