The Public Procurement Monitoring Office has blacklisted five construction companies for non-performance, barring them from public tenders for periods of up to three years. The decision follows repeated missed deadlines and abandoned project sites across several provinces.
According to the office, the contractors failed to mobilise equipment and manpower despite multiple extensions, forcing client agencies to terminate contracts at a loss. The blacklisted firms will also forfeit their bid securities and performance guarantees.
Contractor associations have urged the government to pair the crackdown with faster payment cycles and realistic cost estimates, arguing that chronic underbidding and delayed payments push firms toward default. The office says it will continue publishing its debarment list every quarter.
