Earlier this week Eve Construction also covered the Bajura bridge contracts cancelled by the federal infrastructure minister, and the national-level Sunkoshi Marin contract cancellation.

Why the Karnali stalled projects matter for homeowners in Nepal

Roads and bridges decide how cheaply cement, rods, sand and bricks reach a building site. In hill districts like Kalikot, a missing bridge can mean long detours or seasonal access only, which pushes up transport charges and slows any house project that depends on deliveries. Residents quoted by The Rising Nepal said the delays have caused real hardship and that they now face a new round of uncertainty.

The Damrigad case also shows a familiar risk: contracts signed far below the estimated cost. Very low bids can look attractive on paper but often struggle to finish. The same lesson applies to private house building. A builder who quotes far below the market rate may cut corners or stop work midway.

What to do next

If you are building in Kalikot or nearby, plan material deliveries around current road access and add a buffer for transport costs.

Get realistic estimates before signing with any contractor.
