The Chobhar substation in the Kathmandu Valley is in the final phase of construction and is set to come into operation around Dashain, Gorkhapatra reported on 16 October 2026.<\/p>\n

The substation is a 132\/11 kV facility. Once charged, it will feed power into the valley distribution network from the 132 kV transmission system, strengthening supply for the southern part of the Kathmandu Valley.<\/p>\n

New substations inside the valley are a central part of Nepal Electricity Authority efforts to cut technical losses, reduce feeder overloads and improve voltage quality for households and industry.<\/p>\n

Energising a new substation involves staged testing and protection checks before load is transferred, and NEA typically issues public notices around the charging schedule for the areas concerned.<\/p>\n
