Jajarkot, 14 Oct 2026. Three years after the Jajarkot earthquake in Karnali Province, reconstruction has still not started for many Jajarkot earthquake families in the quake hit areas. They are spending a third Dashain in temporary tin shelters, waiting for permanent homes that have yet to be built.

The district disaster risk reduction committee has deposited grant money for beneficiaries. The report mentions 198 beneficiaries in two wards as printed, and that figure is presented here cautiously as reported. Even so, permanent houses have not been built for many of the affected families.

Local officials cite procedural and funding delays for the slow progress. Three years after the disaster, many quake affected families continue to live under tin roofs, facing harsh weather and difficult living conditions during festivals like Dashain.

The delay in reconstruction has left communities frustrated. While grant money has been deposited, the actual building of permanent houses has not begun for many beneficiaries, highlighting gaps between allocation and implementation for Jajarkot earthquake families.

For local people, a third straight festival season in temporary shelter is a heavy burden. Celebrations meant for family gatherings are instead marked by cramped tin rooms and uncertainty. Until procedures move faster and funds turn into finished homes, Jajarkot earthquake families face the months ahead under tin roofs.

The plight of these families underscores the urgent need to accelerate rebuilding and provide durable housing solutions now. Read more construction tenders and contract news on Eve Construction.
